Fall is here!

Looking down at my messy fall garden. It needs some clean
up, but the red Spider Lilies look like an alien invasion and
   they always make me smile

Worked (played) in the pottery studio this summer...

This is a 6"x 6" bas relief tile of a bird which has
      gone to a good home

This clay birdhouse looks a little like an old school
house and currently sits in my back garden. Maybe
I will have a family of birds next spring.

I loved working on this piece - it was approx 18"x 9",
another bas relief tile of a crane - but -

         - it hadn't completely dried before being fired in the kiln
and it exploded. C'est la vie, I suppose. Back to the drawing
     board for me.

Another exciting announcement!

In addition to welcoming Jackson into the family - my new historical novel made its debut last year as well. As you can see, it's so engaging that Nigel can't take his nose out of it.

What's this book about, you say?  Well... in 1942, as World War II raged in all four corners of the globe, a young Dorothy Chinnis from Ravenel South Carolina traded her crisp white civilian nurse uniform for a khaki one issued by Uncle Sam. As a new nursing graduate, Dot chose to use her medical skills to patch wounded G.I.s fighting for democracy. The Polished Moon is Dot’s story, taken directly from her faithfully-kept diary. In this account of Dot's wartime experiences, you will walk in her shoes as an Army surgical nurse who traveled 5000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, away from her home, her family, and her sweetheart. The Polished Moon chronicles Dot's daily activities of patching brave soldiers, eating camel stew in North Africa, witnessing the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Italy, and ducking for cover as Germans bombed her hospital in France. For her, life and death and love and romance, played against the backdrop of war - a war that touched every soul on earth. This inspiring book profiles the bravery of one of those souls.

The Polished Moon [hardback & softback] can be found at Amazon.
An eBook edition is due to be out soon.

If you're interested in historical fiction, and in true stories about the contributions of real folks, read this book. And then, I'd love to hear from you.

So... in May 2018, this happened. Little Jackson made me
a grand-god-mother.

And this year, we celebrated his first birthday.
Little Jackson is quite special to his Grammy.

It's been a long time since I've posted here. Lots of great things
have been happening in the past year or so. Very soon - I will
post photos and bring this blog up to date.
